November 13th, 2010 - Before an esteemed audience of prominent travel and tourism professionals at the World Congress of Clubs Skal in Sydney, Australia, Rafael Millán was honored by being named one of the few "Miembros de Honor" (Honorary Members) of the prestigious Club Skal International, making him the only Mexican to have ever received this distinctive honor.
With extensive finance and business experience gained through his many leadership positions in the hospitality industry over the years, Rafael Millán, Chief Executive Officer of Las Brisas Hotels & Resorts, has led and positioned Las Brisas Hotels & Resorts globally as a premier hotel and resort destination. Apart from consolidating all the Brisas owned properties and creating a hotel chain, he has also been a key figure in improving and fortifying relationships within the Mexican tourism community.

In recognition of his many accomplishments, the prestigious Club Skal granted Millán the coveted status of "Honorable Member" and the distinction of being the only Mexican to be so recognized. Mr. Millán has been an instrumental player for Skal-he founded five clubs (Ixtapa, Veracruz, Huatulco, Manzanilla-Colima-Costalegre, and Querétaro), served as Skal's national president for Mexico in 2006, and currently serves as its national commissioner. Previous to being named an honorary member of Club Skal, Millán also received the International Diploma of Merit for Skal, No. 52.
Skal International was founded in Paris in 1932 and is an organization for leaders of the tourism industry around the world. At present, it boasts over 450 clubs with 22,000 members across 90 countries. Mexico is home to 17 clubs with 510 members.
